The Driftless Area

The driftless area is a portion of the upper Mississippi river valley that was left untouched by the glaciers back when they were receding. This creates beautiful bluffs with elevation as high as 1,719 within West Blue Mound State Park in Iowa. Some breathtaking streams sitting within the valleys give way for great fly fishing

Drive Through Foliage

In the fall, there’s an opportunity to see some pretty spectacular fall color. The trees along the river are tall and old as the steep terrain prevented anyone from farming. Red maple and yellow ash are some of the more vibrant colors you’ll see. Birch can be bright orange, with oak and hickory making out a maroon-ish tint.

Whitewater State Park

There are a few state parks within the area. The main one is White Water State Park. Here, you can fly fish, camp, and of course there are plenty of trails. One of the more beautiful state parks Minnesota has. Certainly a place to visit when checking out fall colors.
