Vienna is full of sweet treats and palaces. Like walking around a real life Disneyland. Let’s check it out.

Day 1
Starting off with a heavy hitter, Cafe Sacher Torte is a decadent way to start the day. And oh, and we'll be eating cake for the majority of the day today...Glamorous, old fashioned, and that moist, perfect deep rich chocolaty bite of sacher torte chocolate cake. The staff knows what's up. Pop in, grab a slice of cake, a cappuccino, and we’re out.
Visit the Hofburg Palace and Austrain National Library next. The library really amazed me.
When you’re finished, more cake is just steps away at Cafe Central.
What’s next? Grab some hot wine, a pastry, or some hazelnuts from the little stands dispersed around the fairy tale, I mean city.
Next, head into the majestic St Stephansdom Cathedral. One of the sites that is actually free to check out. Schubert Denkmel Park is a great spot to begin taking in some of that Vienna Evening air. If it’s time for a drink, grab a beer at 1516 Brewery, and enjoy the beer garden outside.
Hopping on the “Ring” transportation is a fun activity. You can buy the tourist pass, which costs a little more than just using a metro card. Feel free to enjoy the sites along this light-rail street car.
If you haven’t had enough dessert yet, head back to St Stephansdom for a banana split at Aida right off the cathedral. Makes for a wonderful atmosphere to people watch and enjoy ice cream.
Cap the night off with a beer in the wonderfully dark, brick-laced cellar of Beer Street. A beautiful selection of over 30 taps, and an atmosphere that's difficult to duplicate.
Day 2
Today is about two huge palaces and parks, and you'll want some food along the way. I honestly can't think of a better market to pick up items for a picnic In Vienna, than Naschmarket. They have fish, bread, cheese, fruits, restaurants, espresso, and stuffed olives.
Take your time when visiting Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces. A tour around gives a glimpse of how royalty used to live a hundred years ago.
For a great local beer, Bierreither Gastwirtschaft is a brewery off the ring and has nice German food.
Arguably the best sacher torte chocolate cake is at yet another delightful bakery located back by the Hofburg Palace, Demel. You can also get these cakes to go, with disposable forks, and enjoy your cake anywhere you want. I’m not saying we didn’t do this…
The opera is one of the more popular activities to do in Vienna. If you can afford the price, enjoy. And if you can’t, there’s a standing room ticket only line offered at a deeply discounted rate if you show up 90 minutes early on the day of the show.
If you'd like to spend some extra coin after the performance, 25 hrs is a great spot for a cocktail while overlooking the city at night.
